WWF FIGURE INSIDER
By John Barnett

(For the week of March 18, 2000)

NEWS: Expect Titan Tron Live Series 3 to be in your hands very soon.  Though we had to wait a little while longer to get them, they're definitely worth the wait.  As a bonus, TTL 3 includes accessories.  Jericho, who now has a new hairstyle, includes a sledgehammer;Chyna has a mechanics' creeper; Austin has a crutch, The Rock comes with a cookie sheet; Test has a guard rail; and Big Boss Man has removable sunglasses, a lamp, and his signature baton.

With Billy Gunn being paired with Triple H in Double Slam 4, Stephanie McMahon's figure is in limbo once again.  She was originally scheduled for Back Alley Street Fighters, then in Double Slam 4 with Triple H, and now she doesn't seem to have a home.  She may be included with Triple H in another upcoming 2-pack, but Jakks has not sent any word on where she goes now.

The Trash Talkin' Stage has arrived, and it's even cooler than expected.  Not only do you get a backstage playset programmed with over 100 phrases that are activated with Tron Ready figures, but you also get Grapple Gear in case you feel like breaking up a backstage interview with a brawl.  If you pre-ordered your Trash Talkin' Stage from Ringside Collectibles, expect to see it in your home very soon.

Figures and entrance playsets aren't the only thing Jakks has planned for the coming months.  Jakks has two new wrestling rings planned to ship in the next few months.  The Wrestlemania 2000 Attitude ring you've most likely seen advertised on WWF programming should be in stores any time now.  It may only be a re-decorated Catapult Attitude Ring, but it still looks great.  Coming up after that is the Real Sounds SmackDown! Arena (SEE THE INSIDER MAILBAG FOR MORE DETAILS).  Also check out photographs of the Real Sounds Arena and Smackdown Playset in our Toy Fair coverage.

Complete sets of Superstars Series 8 are still only $21. That's six figures for only $21,
which adds up to $3.50 per figure including THE ROCK!! You will not find a better deal than that. Check it out today because I doubt this deal will last long.

In stock this week is the Grapple Gear Series 4: Die Cast.  This brand new set of Jakks Accessories is a must-have. Click here to check out the brand new Grapple Gear Series 4 accessories that are in stock RIGHT NOW!

Final Results of last week's Poll: It wasn't much of a contest in last week's poll, as the Hardy Boyz took 2/3 of the vote as your favorite Double Slam 4 2-pack.  They may very well be the most-anticipated figures of the year, and Jakks definitely has not let us down.  Following behind in a distant second with 19% was Chris Jericho and Chyna.  The great-looking Triple H and Billy Gunn 2-pack took 10% of the vote, while Kane and Test only managed to get 4%.

INSIDER MAILBAG:
Every week your Figure Insider will answer the two best questions that I receive via e-mail.  So if you have a WWF-Figure related question that has been bugging you, simply e-mail me, your Figure Insider at: [email protected]. Make sure you include your Name and Town in the e-mail.

Why did jakks stop selling bone crunchers ? They were great figures and I had a collection of more than seventy of them. I was forced to end that collection when they stopped making them. I believe they should make TTL and Bone Crunchers.

With their Bone Crunching Action line of WWF figures in production since 1996, Jakks wanted to prevent their WWF line from becoming stale.  The new style of Titan Tron Figures provided the
solution to this.  Not only did their figures get the added articulation fans had been wanting, but they also got a great technologically-advanced toy to carry them into the 21st century.

What is the real sounds arena?

The Real Sounds Arena is a new arena and ring playset for your TTL figures.  It includes a Tron-Activated ring, light riggings and other things you'd see on SmackDown!  The ring will be able to recognize who is coming to the ring, and will announce the wrestler's name when he stands on the ring steps.  Additionally, it will be able to count the 1-2-3 when a pinfall is made.

CLASSIC JAKKS FIGURE OF THE WEEK:

Big Bossman

Superstar Series 8

He's held the Hardcore Title on numerous occasions, and he even cooked Al Snow's beloved dog, Pepper.  He is, of course, the Big Boss Man.  The Boss Man debuted Superstars Series 8 and was also released in 2 Tuff 4 at nearly the same time.  He naturally included his night stick and became one of the most popular figures of 1999's second quarter.
