Rob Van Dam made his triumphant return to the WWE at Money in the Bank 2013, only to be ousted by Alberto Del Rio after a failed attempt at capturing the World Heavyweight Championship. The ‘One of a Kind’ Extreme superstar has been in the minds of fans ever since his re-debut as they anxiously await his return to the WWE ring to see where he will decide to place his talents. It’s possible that he could attempt to capture the United States Championship again from Dean Ambrose, settle his unfinished business with Alberto Del Rio or head straight for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Either way, the WWE Universe and wrestling figure fans will get to return Rob Van Dam to their wrestling rings much earlier. After years of anticipation, Rob Van Dam’s first Mattel WWE figure has been released and another is on the way.
The Mattel WWE Elite 27 Rob Van Dam has seen the light of day and is in the hands of fans worldwide. With a ‘First Time in the Line’ branding, a steel chair accessory and an incredibly detailed deco, this Rob Van Dam fills the long awaited void. Van Dam’s singlet sports a dragon design in the front and a highly detailed ‘RVD,’ with a yin-yang design on the back an plenty of colors. Fans were worried that the details may not come to fruition but Mattel has put their minds at ease.
With Elite articulation, fans can re-enact the VanDaminator, the VanTerminator, the Five Star Frog Splash and the Rolling Thunder at their leisure. Tall boots that accurately reflect the real thing and a scruffy look are just added details that fans couldn’t appreciate more. Despite his absence, fans will luckily have not just the now in stock Mattel WWE Elite 27 Rob Van Dam, but the Mattel WWE Series 39 Rob Van Dam on the way.
The Mattel WWE Series 39 Rob Van Dam is a basic series figure and RVD’s first time amongst the expansive line. With a flaming blue skull singlet design, Mattel decided to portray a style not often seen on Rob Van Dam and seen even less on any previous Rob Van Dam action figures. Wrestling figure fans are treated to a modern look for the Whole F’n Show and can more than likely expect more wrestling figures to come.
In the meantime, when will Rob Van Dam return to the WWE ring? He has stated numerous times that he hopes to be back in the ring ‘soon’ but there is not an appearance or even a chant in his name in sight. Only time will tell and when it does happen, the WWE Universe will have their new Mattel WWE Rob Van Dam action figures in hand.
