Around the time of the Road to WrestleMania each year, fans worldwide begin to speculate on the possible appearance of Sting in the WWE. With the expiration of his TNA contract always imminent, the discussion turns to whether or not Sting will work for Vince McMahon and step foot into a WWE ring. Fans especially hope for a fantasy match up of Sting taking on The Undertaker, two figures surrounded by shrouds of mysticism and magic, and two legends in the wrestling business in WCW and WWE respectively.
It would be no surprise that if Sting were to finally step into a WWE ring, wrestling action figure fans would go wild as he would finally receive a Mattel WWE figure. What that Mattel WWE figure could feature gives plenty of options and looks from Sting, who has colorfully maintained a wild appearance his entire career.
Mattel WWE WCW Surfer Sting!
Sting’s early days in WCW saw him sport elaborate jackets, a short, blonde, tight haircut and colorful tights with scorpion designs included on the side. With all different colors including an American style, and the above included orange and blue scheme amongst many, many others, the ‘surfer’ version of Sting and the slow transition into the modern day, darker Sting leaves endless possibilities for a Mattel WWE figure.
Mattel WWE WCW Black and White Sting!
The heroic Sting who hated the nWo and won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship many times dropped from the rafters with amazing black and white face paint and an awesome leather jacket. He was cool, had plenty of different face paint designs and different scorpion shirts and tights, to the possibilities again have few limits. The figure could also come with a baseball bat accessory, a trademark of Sting when facing off with WCW baddies.
Mattel WWE nWo Wolfpac Sting!
To really stick it to nWo black and white (or ‘Hollywood’ as they were sometimes called) Sting joined the nWo Wolfpac, the red and black spin-off gang that were tired of the nWo’s control of WCW and tricks, games and gang-like mentality. Sting maintained his heroic demeanor throughout his time with the group and sported red and black facepaint and red and black tights. This look provided an alternative to his black and white and further cemented Sting as a unique and unmatchable WCW Superstar. He could also include a bat or even a leather jacket styled to the time he was in the Wolfpac.
Mattel WWE Modern Day Sting!
If the stars were to align and by some grace of the universe Sting and the WWE could work out a deal for the legendary Superstar to step into a WWE ring, Sting’s WWE debut could see an entirely new look or something similar to how he has looked for the past decade in TNA. With looks inspired by his WCW days and sometimes with a modern spin (Sting could portray his Joker-inspired persona in WWE) Sting has worn a purple jacket, black tights with all sorts of colors and maintained some perfectly painted designs since wrestling for TNA. His entrance into WWE would certainly bring a new level of possibilities and a Mattel WWE figure could be inspired by his actual WWE debut after WCW’s demise over 12 years ago. Sting coming to WWE would put fans, and especially wrestling figure fans, into an uproar.
