So few expected and even fewer are not at all shocked by The Undertaker’s defeat by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30. With a legendary WrestleMania win-streak on the line, Brock Lesnar managed to make quick work of The Undertaker, man-handling him and ending the undefeated streak, giving The Phenom a 21-1 record. Since, Brock has been recognized as both WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Paul Heyman has done his best to make sure fans remember exactly who changed the face of professional wrestling forever. Brock Lesnar has had what is arguably the most successful year in the history of professional wrestling. Mattel brought out their latest from Mattel WWE Series 36, Mattel WWE Series 38 and Mattel WWE Series 39, showcasing the vast roster of WWE Superstars they have available on a regular basis. Included in Mattel WWE Series 36, Kaitlyn, Fandango, Big E Langston, Christian, CM Punk and Jack Swagger. Also in WWE Series 38 were Vickie Guerrero, Dolph Ziggler, Chris Jericho, Sheamus, The Miz and Kofi Kingston sporting new, long tights.

The set that got the WWE wrestling figure universe buzzing came in the form of Mattel WWE Series 39, never before seen and including Christian with a new headsculpt, Rob Van Dam with his first time in WWE Series form, Heath Slater with a new ‘rock band’ style look, Justin Gabriel with his updated look, John Cena and the debut figure of Wyatt Family leader, Bray Wyatt.

Recently seen by WrestlingFigures.com fans but still a perfect set to wow those who haven’t seen them, Mattel WWE Elite 27 included Rob Van Dam with his first Mattel WWE figure ever and first Mattel WWE Elite, ‘Bad Ass’ Billy Gunn rounding out the New Age Outlaws, Rikishi Fatu with amazing accessories and adding to ‘Attitude Era’ Legends having been released, Undertaker with an updated robe, Kofi Kingston with updated long tights and an amazingly bright, colorful and seductive Mattel WWE Elite Fandango, his first time in the Elite Series.

Surprising fans everywhere, however, was the as-yet unseen Mattel WWE Battle Packs 27 including Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton, The Big Show fighting Mark Henry and the now fading Tag Team, Tons of Funk (Brodus Clay and ‘Sweet T’ aka Tensai.) Tensai’s purple hat and smiling, happy demeanor has been an exciting treat for Mattel WWE wrestling figure fans as they enjoy an immortalized version of a happy-go-lucky Tensai who is transitioning to a commentary role for the WWE.

Mattel’s WWE display was rounded off with an incredible centerpiece in the Ringside Collectibles Exclusive ECW CM Punk. The week after Royal Rumble 2014, speculation has run rampant on Twitter, Facebook and amongst the WWE Universe and beyond as to whether or not CM Punk is still with the WWE. The Ringside Collectibles Exclusive Mattel WWE Straight Edge Society CM Punk featured camouflage Straight Edge Society garb for the Straight Edge Superstar. Complete with a removable mask and an extremely detailed bald headsculpt, this CM Punk was hugely sought after by Mattel WWE figure fans, sold quickly and remains a hot item to this day. Celebrating Punk’s time in the Straight Edge Society, it captured the essence of his purely evil turn and cult-like feuds with Rey Mysterio and Big Show.
Mattel WWE Elite 1 CM Punk!
The Mattel WWE Elite 1 CM Punk, his first released Mattel WWE Elite during the launch of the Mattel WWE line, featured CM Punk’s post-Money In the Bank win look, confidence and edge. The grey and yellow outfit featured in this figure, unlike so many other CM Punk outfits, has yet to be replicated and remains unique and unchanged. Also included, now a thing of the past in the Mattel WWE figure line, was a cotton-style cloth t-shirt.
Mattel WWE Elite 11 CM Punk!
After a forceful takeover of The Nexus from Wade Barrett, CM Punk put his leadership skills to good use and ran the group into the ground while using it as a springboard for his own success. Fans are often reminded of CM Punk’s time in the Royal Rumble surrounded by Nexus members and his infamous “Pipe Bomb” speech that took place during his time as Nexus leader. The Mattel WWE Elite 11 figure captured both his time in the group and his transition to mega superstar, complete with Nexus armband and Nesus t-shirt, both removable so wrestling figure fans could easily have their CM Punk abandon the group if he needed to.

The Mattel WWE Elite 20 CM Punk was monumental for Mattel WWE wrestling figure fans as it included a new, slick-haired headsculpt and accurate, colorful tattoos that were finally realized as intended. This figure also included the Mattel WWE Spinner championship, commemorating CM Punk’s monumental WWE Championship reign that lasted over a year and ended at the hands of The Rock.

What could possibly be CM Punk’s last great feud in the WWE, he faced off with Undertaker at WrestleMania 29, angrily trying to end what he considered to be a self indulgent and silly WrestleMania streak carried by the Undertaker. Going so far as to make jokes with the urn of the Undertaker’s late father Paul Bearer, CM Punk reached into the mind of Undertaker to pull out a loss. He didn’t find it, but his memorable elbow drop on to Undertaker and his ongoing grouchy demeanor made the face off extremely memorable.

The latest planned Mattel WWE ECW CM Punk Ringside Collectibles Exclusive figure was revealed by Mattel and Ringside Collectibles at Ringside Fest 2013. A happier, smiling CM Punk included red trunks and boots, a microphone, heart t-shirt and ECW Championship from a time when the new Superstar was doing his best to make a name for himself in the WWE. Many die-hard wrestling fans had already taken to CM Punk, but he slowly but surely made his way atop the WWE ladder, and it began while in ECW. The fate of this Mattel WWE Ringside Collectibles Exclusive ECW CM Punk figure is currently unknown, but upon its release, it will be a fitting tribute as the start of a career in the WWE that many have not wanted to see end.

Fans have long awaited Rob Van Dam’s first Mattel WWE treatment and they get it with a steel chair to administer plenty of coast to coasts here. Mattel ended up going with an elaborate dragon design with RVD in green in the front and sculpting a spot on likeness of The Whole F’n Show. For his first time in the line, and what probably won’t be his last, it’s a great effort.

Fandango’s first Mattel WWE Elite certainly causes fans to say his name correctly. With an amazingly detailed zebra print pair of multi-colored ring pants and a multi-colored ring vest, he’s ready for action in the most animated way possible. It will only be a matter of time before Mattel WWE figure fans are using him to dance his way to their ring set ups.

After an extremely long main line Mattel WWE Elite absence, Undertaker rises from the grave with his most recent and most intense look yet. Two out of the three Attitude Era staples included in this set, Rikishi is definitely a too cool Elite figure. His ability to dance won’t come into question with the inclusion of his yellow and black sunglasses for a post match groove session, but his detailed entrance sarong brings the figure to an additional level of detail and closer to being just like the real thing.

D-Generation X member Billy Gunn puts the Mr. in Mr. Ass with his Mattel WWE Elite 27 figure. With interchangeable headbands, two DX shirts and detailed green trunks and knee pads with kisses all over, he’s the one many fans have been waiting for. The Elite articulation will be perfect to administer the Fameasser to opponents for those looking to re-create New Age Outlaws worthy wrestling figure matches.

CM Punk has had a string of misfortune since returning to the WWE after a loss to The Undertaker at last year’s WWE WrestleMania. He has had run ins with The Shield, The Wyatt Family, and even his boss, Triple H, all trying to suppress his free speaking mind and cause him great harm in the WWE. To add insult to months of injury, Kane, now corporate and no longer any fun, has decided CM Punk would be the perfect first entrant in the Royal Rumble 2014. Punk, weary and war torn, will have his work cut out for him if he wishes to main event WrestleMania.

CM Punk’s hard hearted, grouchy demeanor came to a head at WrestleMania 29 when he faced off with Undertaker. Claiming he could beat the streak, Punk faced off with The Dead Man and attempted to take away his WrestleMania glory. Immortalized in Mattel WWE Battle Packs 25, CM Punk has black boots, knee pads, trunks with white stars, and a dark and angry, clenched teeth mouth, reminiscent of a Ninja Turtle. The Battle Pack also included an Undertaker figure and an urn accessory, based on the urn CM Punk took from Undertaker that represented his late father, Paul Bearer.
