WWF FIGURE INSIDER
By John Barnett

(For the week of January 15, 2000)

NEWS: Following in the footsteps of the Titan Tron Playset, Ringside Collectibles now has available for pre-order the brand new Jakks Trash Talkin' Stage. With the Trash Talkin' Stage, Titan Tron Live figures will no longer be confined to use with the Titan Tron Playset. Tron Ready figures will activate sound clips to interact with other figures to add even more realism to playing with the figures. The stage is set up like a backstage interview area, complete with folding chair, barrel, and guard rail. It even has the chain-link fence seen in the background of most backstage interviews on RAW.

Also available for pre-order right now is the figure that everyone has been waiting for, Chris Jericho.  Yes, Y2J himself is now available to purchase in Titan Tron Live Series 3.  Also included in this incredible set is are brand new sculpted  figures of Chyna, Big Bossman, Test, Steve Austin, and The Rock!

The brand new Back Alley Street Fighters set is an excellent new set featuring The Rock with a boom box, Triple H with the world title, Steve Austin with a crate, X-Pac with a trash can, Road Dogg, & Hardcore Holly.

Double Slam Series 3 contains an unbelievable assortment of brand new 2-Packs.  Included are Hardcore Holly & Billy Gunn, Big Show & Test, Undertaker & Mankind, and Debra & Steve Austin.  Check out the detail on Billy Gunn's face.  It it a HUGE improvement over his previous Titan Tron figures.

Perhaps the most interesting assortment coming out soon is Grapple Gear Series 3: Die Cast.  This brand new concept from Jakks features Die Cast Grapple Gear accessories for all of your Jakks WWF Figures. I personally cannot wait to get my hands on the die cast scale so that my Hardcore Holly figure can be complete.

Speaking of new items in stock, the Edge & Christian Signed Limited Edition 2-Pack is here. Definitely check out this incredible collectors item.

Rumors have been floating around about new Bone-Crunching Action assortments such as Superstars Series 10 and 2 Tuff 6 being confirmed, but they are completely false. No new BCA figures are in the works. The only BCA assortments coming to stores are re-release assortments such KB's Special Edition, and the future of that line is uncertain.

Final Results of last week's Poll: Despite initial criticism, the Titan Tron Playset grabbed the honor of being the favorite Jakks product of 1999 with 47% of the vote. The Titan Tron Live figures followed in second place with 35% of the vote. After that, the remaining choices weren't very popular at all. Jakks' 3" figures finished third with only 9% of the vote, while the 12" federation Fighters took only 6%. The seemingly lifeless Internet-Active Steve Austin barely generated any interest in this poll and in stores, as he only grabbed 3% of the vote and has been put on clearance at most stores.

CLASSIC JAKKS FIGURE OF THE WEEK:

Godfather

Road Rage

Let me hear you say, "Pimpin' ain't easy!" Jakks went to work quickly to get us a Godfather figure after hearing numerous requests to make him. The quickness with which he was made didn't affect the quality of his figure though. The Godfather was an all-new mold that was just the perfect size for the conductor of the Ho Train. Jakks was even nice enough to include a cane, hat, and wheel barrow with him; though they mistakenly labeled his wheel barrow as a wheel-barrel.

BRING IT TO ME JAKKS!: Is there a certain figure that you would like to see produced or an accessory you would like to see made?  Jakks has told us that they would love to hear your ideas and suggestions for future products!  If you always wanted that Howard Finkel & Lillian Garcia 2-Pack to complete your collection or if you think that Jakks should come out with Prince Albert's back hair playset with real hair, all that you have to do is e-mail Jakks with your suggestion.  They just might use it!  All product suggestions sent to: [email protected] will be forwarded directly to Jakks Pacific.

FIGURE INSIDER TRIVIA:  This week's prize is a $30 Ringside Collectibles Gift Certificate.  The question is: When Jakks sent out the last shipments of Superstars Series 3 with the Diesel and Goldust re-releases, what was different about the packaging?

If you think you know the answer, just send an e-mail to: [email protected] with the subject "INSIDER CONTEST", in the e-mail you MUST include your answer along with your name and town.  Only one entry per person.  Multiple entries will be disqualified.  Your answer must be received by 11:59pm eastern time on January 20th. One winner will be chosen from all correct entries received. You can rest assured that personal information sent in for this contest will not be used for marketing purposes. It allows us to ensure that multiple entries are disqualified!
The winner of this contest will be announced on the Figure Insider page the weekend of January 21.

The correct answer to last week's question is Skull. Skull was the first figure made only by repainting another figure, as he was just a repainted 8-Ball. Jeff Jarrett from Shotgun Saturday Night 2 seemed like the obvious choice to nearly everyone but Best of '98 was in stores before SSN 2.  Last week's trivia WINNER is [email protected]. E-mail your address ASAP to receive your prize.
