WWF FIGURE INSIDER
By John Barnett

(For the week of February 5, 2000)

NEWS: I've been bit by that pesky flu bug and it seems Jakks has it's own flu bug as well. In what has been a hectic few weeks Jakks has now indicated that Titan Tron Live Series 3 and Back Alley Street Fighters assortments will not be shipping until Late-April. We have been told that there were problems with the molds which forced Jakks to push back the shipping date to Late-April. What this all means is that we will have to wait a few weeks longer for these incredible looking new figures.

For those of you who pre-ordered Titan Tron Live Series 3 or Back Alley Street Fighters, I am told that you will receive a letter shortly notifying you of this delay. I will keep you posted if I can get anymore news as to why these sets were delayed.

Brand new details of the Trash Talkin' Stage have been made available to us.  This excellent new accessory has over 100 rants and raves as heard on WWF programing in the superstars' actual voices.  The Trash Talkin' Stage recognizes many Titan Tron Live Figures.  Two Tron-Ready cards are included with the stage.  Tron Ready Cards each feature a unique WWF Superstar. When your Tron-Ready card is placed on the Trash Talkin' Stage, you will be able to hear rants and raves from that Superstar.  This sounds like an excellent accessory that makes use of both existing and brand new Titan Tron Live figures.  Click Here for pre-ordering information.

Also, we have exclusive information about the Back Alley Street Fighters Assortment. Each figure is Titan Tron Ready and all of them work with the Titan Tron Live and Trash Talkin' Stage playset.  Each figure features Street Ready clothes to simulate street fighting scenes.  Perhaps the best news is that each figure in this set features TWELVE points of articulation!!!!  This is excellent news for those of us who like to play with our figures.  Click Here for information on Pre-Ordering this excellent set.

We've entered the month of February, which means Toy Fair is only a few short weeks away. This also means we're in the middle of the slowest news period in the figure world. Jakks isn't saying much about upcoming products right now except that there will be a lot of new products showcased at Toy Fair.  The Figure Insider will be bringing you the latest news from Toy Fair later this month.

In case you missed it, especially since it wasn't publicized very well, ToyFare, the magazine offered an exclusive figure of the Big Show in last month's issue. Nothing appeared different about him, but ToyFare's exclusive wrestlers have never matched their prototypes.  The Big Show looks exactly the same as his Series 9 figure but in a new package.

While on the subject of prototypes, I've been told we will probably see a prototype of Miss Kitty at Toy Fair as well as many other highly requested figures such as the Hardy Boyz.

Final Results of last week's Poll:
Hardcore Holly and Billy Gunn took 47% of the votes to win last week's poll as favorite Double Slam Series 3 2-pack. Obviously fans are responding to the incredible detail of the Billy Gunn and Hardcore Holly figures.  Debra and Steve Austin took an impressive 37% without even having a picture of the Austin figure. Big Show and Test took 10% for third, and the Undertaker/Mankind 2-pack finished with 6%.

CLASSIC JAKKS FIGURE OF THE WEEK:

Triple H

Camo Carnage

Camo Carnage was recalled and re-released with replacement accessories due to an excessively violent image, but Triple H's figure held its ground as a great figure. He had an amazing head sculpt that captured the likeness of "The Game" perfectly. He was also dressed in his Operation: DX fatigues, which were just too cool.

BRING IT TO ME JAKKS!: Is there a certain figure that you would like to see produced or an accessory you would like to see made?  Jakks has told us that they would love to hear your ideas and suggestions for future products!  If you always wanted that Howard Finkel & Lillian Garcia 2-Pack to complete your collection or if you think that Jakks should come out with Prince Albert's back hair playset with real hair, all that you have to do is e-mail Jakks with your suggestion.  They just might use it!  All product suggestions sent to: [email protected] will be forwarded directly to Jakks Pacific.

FIGURE INSIDER TRIVIA:  This week's prize is a $30 Ringside Collectibles Gift Certificate.  The question is: Which retail store had the Shotgun Saturday Night and Go Mental 4-packs as exclusives?

Apparently last week's question was pretty tough. I only had a hand-full of responses. The Grudge Match 2-packs originally carried the working title of Attack Packs before being re-named.

[email protected]. E-mail your address ASAP to receive your prize.
