WWF FIGURE INSIDER
By John Barnett

(For the week of December 19, 1999)

NEWS: Sorry for the late column this weekend. Unfortunately the heavy traffic problems on Ringside's server the past few days prevented any updating.  Let's get to the news...

The year's nearly over, and Jakks' Wrestlemania 2000 campaign is right around the corner. A ton of new products will hit stores early next year carrying the WM2K packaging. These products include  Back Talkin' Crushers, Titan Tron Live Series 2, Double Slam Series 2, and Smackdown Series 2. The next few days are your LAST chance to order these incredible new Jakks sets in time for Christmas.

Another very hot Christmas item has been the Al Snow autographed figure. Given it's recent banning from Wal-Mart and Al Snow's growing feud with Mankind, this figure is one that you definitely want to have in your collection.

Look for Jakks to also re-release their Attitude ring with Wrestlemania 2000 stickers as a part of their huge Wrestlemania 2000 campaign.

Y2J in time for Y2K? All signs point to yes. Jericho's first WWF figure should be out early next year as a part of the Wrestlemania 2000 campaign.

The end of bone-crunching action is right around the corner. Jakks' final BCA assortment, Signature Series 6,  are out now. Included are repaints of Vince McMahon, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Undertaker, Hardcore Holly, Mankind, and Triple H.

Final Results of last week's Poll:

CLASSIC JAKKS FIGURE OF THE WEEK:

Shawn Michaels

Superstar Series 8

The Heartbreak Kid's wrestling career may have ended, but his greatness lived on with his Superstar Series 8 figure. The figure captured HBK in his Commissioner attire, with a suit and tie. Topping it off was a briefcase and cowboy hat.

BRING IT TO ME JAKKS!: Is there a certain figure that you would like to see produced or an accessory you would like to see made?  Jakks has told us that they would love to hear your ideas and suggestions for future products!  If you always wanted that Howard Finkel figure to complete your collection or if you think Jakks should come out with Al Snow's frozen dinner with real Pepper meat, all that you have to do is e-mail Jakks with your suggestion.  They just might use it!  All product suggestions sent to: [email protected] will be forwarded directly to Jakks Pacific.

FIGURE INSIDER TRIVIA:  This week's prize is a $30 Ringside Collectibles Gift Certificate.  The question is: What figure produced by Jakks was the first to feature a "break-away" wooden table?

If you think you know the answer, just send an e-mail to: [email protected] with the subject "INSIDER CONTEST", in the e-mail you MUST include your answer along with your name and town.  Only one entry per person.  Multiple entries will be disqualified.  Your answer must be received by 11:59pm eastern time on December 23rd. One winner will be chosen from all correct entries received. You can rest assured that personal information sent in for this contest will not be used for marketing purposes. It allows us to ensure that multiple entries are disqualified!
The winner of this contest will be announced on the Figure Insider page the weekend of December 23.

The Correct answer for last week's question is Jim Ross. The winner is [email protected]. E-mail me your address, and your prize will be shipped ASAP.

The correct answer to the question from two weeks ago is Mick Foley. I'm not sure why it didn't show up last week though. Foley appeared in Slammers Series 1 as Mankind and in Slammers Series 2 as Dude Love. The winner of that week's trivia was [email protected].
