WWF FIGURE INSIDER
By John Barnett

(For the week of August 14, 1999)

NEWS:Once again, Ringside Collectibles will be offering an autographed exclusive. This time around you can order a limited edition autographed 2-pack of Edge and Christian. Click here to check out this cool exclusive. While on the subject of the new TTL figures, keep checking the Coming Soon page.  Smackdown Series 1 will be available for pre-order this week.

Has Jakks re-released Diesel and Razor Ramon? The simple answer is no. Some pics of the two on SummerSlam '99 cards in a set called "Deadliest Assassins" have been floating around the internet, but they're fakes just like that Undertaker vs. Undertaker 2-pack pic that was floating around a few years ago. The figures were simply put in SummerSlam '99 packages with custom-designed inserts. They're great-looking customs, but not the real deal.

The WWF's Millennium is here, and who couldn't resist marking out for Jericho's entrance? With all the early promotion work he did last Thursday at Titan Towers (ie photo shoots), I would expect Jakks to be on the ball with making a Jericho figure.  Don't be surprised if Jakks has a figure of the Ayatollah of Rock & Rolla' by the end of the year.

Can you say variation? Superstars Series 9 was just released and there are already variations for Bob Holly. So far, the Big Shot has three variations:
-Series 7 Austin arms and Series 6 Owen Hart legs
-Billy Gunn arms and Series 6 Owen Hart legs
-Billy Gunn arms and Series 6 Owen Hart pelvis with Razor Ramon/Sid/Severn legs.

Be sure to check ou the SummerSlam Hot Sale for some great deals. The PPV itself is going to be huge, and this sale is sure to be big as well.

The final results are somewhat surprising. Little interest was shown in Jakks' Interactive Steve Austin, but an overwhelming 59% of you can't live without the Titan Tron. Nearly a quarter of those polled are interested in both.  When the Interactive Austin is released, I think a lot of people will change their minds about this cool figure.

Final Results of last week's Poll:  Which of the following new Jakks products do you plan on purchasing by the end of the year?

Steve Austin 12" Interactive              21 Votes
Titan Tron Ramp Accessory           340 Votes
Of course I will purchase both!       127 Votes
I don't plan on buying either item       91 Votes

FIGURE INSIDER POLL:

WWF Figure Insider Poll
Which WWF Superstar would you be most likely to purchase an autographed figure of?

Current Results

CLASSIC JAKKS FIGURE OF THE WEEK:

Razor Ramon
Jakks Superstars Series 1

This week's choice is none other than the Bad Guy himself, Razor Ramon. He is the most sought-after figure Jakks has made, and commonly sells for around $75 and $80 MOC. When Superstars Series 1 was released three years ago, all six figures in the assortment, including Razor Ramon, were easy to find and extremely plentiful. Three years later though, the Bad Guy's nearly impossible to find.

WWF FIGURE TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE WEEK: This week's prize is a signed Stone Cold Steve Austin 8x10 photo.  The question is: What two wrestlers have had figures made of them by LJN, Hasbro, JusToys, and Jakks?
If you think you know the answer, just send an e-mail to: [email protected] with the subject "INSIDER CONTEST" and your answer by 11:59pm eastern time on August 19. One winner will be chosen from all correct entries received.  The winner of this contest will be announced on the Figure Insider page on August 19th.  If the winner does not e-mail us with a name and mailing address to send their prize to within 7 days of the drawing, they forfeit the prize.

The answer to last week's question is Yokozuna. He was released three times, and to KB every time. The first time was in the Triple threat 3-pack. The figure was then re-released in KB's Special Edition line. A few months after that, he was re-painted in black and white and released as a Special Edition again. This week's winner is [email protected]. Please e-mail me your name and address so we can send you your prize. So far, we're 0 for 2 when it comes to the winner e-mailing me back. Let's not make it three weeks running.
