WWF FIGURE INSIDER
By John Barnett

(For the week of September 5, 1999)

NEWS:Without a shadow of a doubt, the biggest news this weeks has to be the confirmation from Jakks that bone-crunching figures are being phased-out.  Look for TTL figures to dominate the rest of 1999.

As for the "last" of the bone-crunchers, Jakks says you have three more assortments to get them in. These three sets are Signature Series 4, 5, and 6. Signature Series 4 is in stores now, and the other two should follow within the next three months.

According to Matt Pearson over at AFR, the plans for an Owen Hart tribute 4-pack are off; but not for the reasons you may believe. With the WWF making their stock public, and the civil suit in Owen Hart's death, the WWF is trying to avoid the topic of Owen Hart. This is the same reason why they've not yet aired the interview Jim Ross conducted with the British Bulldog.

Is Jakks already working on a Chris Jericho figure?  I would bet they are.

Good old JR has commented in his latest Ross Report that Jakks has already filmed a commercial for their Survivor Series figures with The Road Dogg. Look for it on WWF TV in a few weeks.

It's no surprise what the favorite set from Grapple Gear Series 3 is in last week's poll. Backstage Brawl crushed the competition, getting nearly three times as many votes as Raw is War Live.

Final Results of last week's Poll:  What is your favorite Grapple Gear Series 3 Accessory Sets?

Boiler Room Brawl!            108 Votes
Raw Is War Live!               111 Votes
Street Fight Rulz!                 48 Votes
Backstage Brawl!               334 Votes

CLASSIC JAKKS FIGURE OF THE WEEK:

Diesel
Superstar Series 1

Diesel (Kevin Nash) was one of the most popular WWF champions ever, and his figure is no different. His Series 1 figure is one of the most sought-after pieces in the Jakks catalog, and the re-release of the same figure from Series 3 is just as popular. He's not quite as rare as his pal Razor Ramon, but Diesel still fetches insane prices on the after-market.

The winner of this contest will be announced on the Figure Insider page the weekend of September 10.

The responses were overwhelming, but most of them were incorrect. The correct answer as to where the Razor Ramon & Diesel 2-pack was originally exclusive to is the mail-order company Puzzle Zoo. They go by a different name now, but they were Puzzle Zoo when they offered the 2-pack in 1996. A few months later, Puzzle Zoo liquidated the stock they couldn't sell of the 2-pack to stores such as Hill's, KB, and even Ringside Collectibles. The winner of this highly-demanded 2-pack is [email protected]. Congratulations. You're now the envy of hundreds of people who entered this contest. Please e-mail me your mailing information so we can get you your prize ASAP.
